US Secretary of HHS and Oklahoma governor tour Mom’s Meals® facility

Mom’s Meals hosted U.S. Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. and Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt at our Oklahoma City kitchen on June 26, 2025, highlighting the power of food as medicine.

Using food as medicine works

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) notes chronic diseases are the leading causes of illness, disability and death in the U.S. as well as the leading driver of the nations’ $4.5 trillion in annual health care costs. The CDC also attributes poor nutrition as one of the main risk factors for most chronic diseases. Using food as medicine is an effective way to effectively address these issues. Published research has shown that people with chronic disease benefit from access to home-delivered medically tailored meals and improved outcomes include fewer hospitalizations and meaningful reductions in the total cost of care.

Food As Medicine Whitepaper

Secretary Kennedy and Governor Stitt suited up and toured our 140,300 square feet facility located on 25 acres in Oklahoma City where hundreds of thousands of pounds of food are prepared each day. Using high-quality ingredients, our kitchen production teams make medically tailored meals in a clean, safe USDA- and FDA-inspected facility that meets the highest food regulation standards. Our state-of-the-art sealing equipment ensures the meals are packaged to maintain their quality and flavor for the thousands of people who rely on them every day.

"This moment recognizes Mom’s Meals’ leadership locally and nationally, fueled by our dedicated team of over 2,300 employees across 36 states," said Chris Choi, CEO of Mom’s Meals. “Together, we prepare and deliver 1.5 million nutritious meals every week – that do not include artificial dyes, or any ingredients commonly found in ultra-processed foods – integrating comprehensive nutritional support, education, and behavioral change to improve health outcomes for Americans.”

“You’re doing something remarkable — delivering more than 70 million healthy meals each year, all at a cost lower than a Big Mac meal. Healthy, affordable meals like these are key to helping Make America Healthy Again," Secretary Kennedy shared.

The visit coincided with Governor Stitt’s signing of “The Food is Medicine Act,” a legislation recognizing the vital role of nutrition in managing chronic disease. “Oklahoma is proud to lead the way in recognizing the critical role nutrition plays in improving health,” said Governor Kevin Stitt. “We’re seeing firsthand how greater access to nutritious food can help reduce chronic disease and lower health care costs across our state.”
