Accessing enough nutritious, affordable food is challenging for many Americans. As the most comprehensive provider of food as medicine solutions nationwide, our annual Hunger Challenge initiative aligns directly with our mission of improving life through better nutrition at home.
What is the Mom’s Meals® Hunger Challenge?
When someone is nutrition insecure, it directly affects their overall health and well-being. Each year, Mom’s Meals turns to case managers — our partners on the front lines — for our annual Hunger Challenge to help connect clients with quality nutrition.
Case managers are asked to identify clients and other individuals at risk for nutrition insecurity who are not part of a home and community-based services (HCBS) waiver or are unable to access meals through a state or federally funded program. If an individual is eligible, Mom’s Meals will donate a cooler of 14 meals to provide short-term support until other community resources can be identified.
“It’s not just about the number of meals donated, but about ensuring vulnerable individuals have access to the proper nutrition they need to thrive,” shares Mom’s Meals CEO, Chris Choi. “This need only continues to grow, and through our corporate social responsibility efforts, we remain committed to doing our part to end nutrition insecurity in the communities we serve.”
